Risks and Rewards of Virtual Control Groups in Repeat-Dose Toxicity Studies |
The concept of replacing concurrent control animals with virtual controls is attractive but presents numerous challenges. We conducted a statistical analysis of historical data from rats and non-human primates, identified key factors for data selection and evaluated the range of potential impact virtual control groups could have on study interpretation.
