Making diagnostics work smarter

Lab Stewardship

At Labcorp, lab stewardship isn’t just utilization management. It encompasses all the ways labs improve patient outcomes, reduce costs and enhance efficiency by ensuring appropriate, high-impact testing. By minimizing unnecessary tests, guiding the right test choices, streamlining operations and fostering clinician education, we support value-based, high-quality care.

The Labcorp approach to lab stewardship

Diagnostic laboratory tests are an integral part of providing information to clinicians and patients to enable them to make important health decisions and determine effective treatment plans. Our Lab Stewardship Services are built on the largest clinical data set in the U.S. and grounded in the latest evidence-based medical guidelines. Using principles from trusted sources such as Choosing Wisely, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, and the CDC, we develop stewardship tools that equip providers and payors with the analytics and insights needed to ensure the right test is ordered for the right patient at the right time.

Our extensive resources help payors and providers identify the best-value tests, enabling earlier disease detection and lowering overall medical expenses.
